What is Counselling

I like to think of counselling as being a journey that we embark on together.  I will walk with you, by your side, experiencing and feeling all the things that you do.  Sharing your experiences will help you to gain a better understanding of your self. As we delve deeper into your personal challenges, I will work with you to help you identify what is stopping you from being your true self or finding happiness.  As we walk on, I will enable you to look at your life from a different perspective, so you can take a step back, a deep breath and choose how or if you will change the direction of your current path.

As we continue further on our journey you may at times feel worse before you feel better and at that point I will do everything I can to psychologically hold you safely until you feel stronger again.

Then one day you will find yourself walking upright and alone; stronger and more able to deal with life’s challenges as you have moved forward with a better understanding of yourself and more confidence in your ability to self direct your own life successfully.

How Can I Help You

As a person centred therapist, my aim is to always work with you in a compassionate way. I will provide you with a safe, warm, confidential and supportive space where you can talk freely. All your emotions are welcome. We can work together to help you identify what is blocking you from living your best life. I will work always to validate your feelings  and enable you to question yourself. You can learn new ways to cope and strategies to help you negotiate the challenges that life throws at you. This will enable you to process your experiences in a way that empowers you and gives you a  better understanding of yourself.   Counselling can give you the skills you need to accept the things you cannot change, to recognise the things you can and to find the courage to make the changes you need, so as to live a fuller more meaningful life.
